An Erasmus+ project on gender equality
Gender equality throughout history
Understanding the past is the key to engage in the present and impact the future. With the main assignment, students were challenged academically. By creating a timeline and conducting an interview, we improved their involvement and brought the past closer to their present.
Assignments
Literature Study
All students perform their own research on women's rights in the past. They also make an assignment on the Code Napoléon.
Timeline
Based upon their research students select interesting dates and facts to create a timeline. They compare their results in small groups to create a common timeline.
Interview
Students interview their grandparents on gender stereotypes and equality, starting from alleged prejudices.
E.g. who is supposed to do which chores at home
Presentation
The results are presented in a timeline, created with an online tool. The timelines are printed and presented in a wall display. The students make a small video of the wall display, explaining the major parts and events. Bullet journal pages with relevant quotes and/or major events in history are designed by the students, with the focus on avoiding gender-based stereotypes and prejudices and tackling discrimination.
