FOR TEACHERS

We share our project findings in a booklet for teachers, as we believe it can provide a starting point for other schools to explore gender equality in education. Below you can find the main topics in the booklet. You can also go to the download section for the full version and additional materials.

A suggestion for classroom practice can also be found on this website.

Project findings

External factors and societal expectations have a huge impact on what happens in the classroom. Current evolutions in society regarding gender and current events such as the pandemic, have added to the complexity of the matter.

Unconscious gender bias

Ingrained biases alter our perceptions of people and how we interact with them. This can have a detrimental effect on life chances and opportunities in wider societies. By being aware of our biases we can help to mitigate them.

students say...

"You can feel that some teachers come to the classroom expecting the boys not to have met a deadline. They already are a bit wound up before they ask for it."
